Holger Scheidt - Roots to the Back (2026) [Hi-Res]

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 brought an abrupt halt to double bassist Holger Scheidt's career, leading to the cancellation of his European performances and in-person teaching. This period of forced isolation in Berlin sparked deep introspection, prompting the musician to reflect on his twenty-year journey from his youth in Bavaria to his life in New York and Barcelona. Inspired by memories of his roots as a teenager singing with a guitar, Scheidt decided to record a solo home album. Supported by the Neustart Kultur grant, the project "Roots To The Back" became a unique experiment in which the musician incorporated vocals alongside his double bass for the first time in two decades, blending personal history with modern home-recording technology.
