The debut album by the Austin-based quartet That Touch Girl Apple Blossom (TGAB), co-released by the iconic K Records and Perennial, revives the classic retro-naive twee-punk and jangle-pop of the late '80s and early '90s. The band's music blends Olivia Garner's charmingly mumbly vocals with slacker-rock traditions and melancholic indie folk reminiscent of Heavenly and Elephant Six. However, TGAB goes beyond mere pastiche, enriching their sound with elements of Texas guitar twang, high-adrenaline surf rock, shoegaze, New Wave, and psychedelic jams. The release also marks a symbolic renaissance for K Records after a decade of financial hardship.
