Comme un souffle ("Like a Breath") is the debut studio album by the Breton duo Morgane et Jérémy SIMON, recorded in January 2026 at the Maison des Arts de Baud Communauté (Morbihan, Brittany), mixed in February–March 2026, and released on physical media in May 2026. It marks the culmination of over eight years of musical partnership between two musicians united by family ties yet rooted in distinctly different accordion traditions.
Morgane Simon (b. 1985) is a French-language teacher, musician, and composer from Brittany. For her, the diatonic accordion is a vehicle for expression capable of illuminating what words alone cannot convey. Jérémy Simon (b. 1986) is a virtuoso of the concert chromatic accordion (bayan), at home in genres ranging from jazz and world music to chanson and rock — a career distinguished by winning the European Accordion Trophy, reaching the finals of the World Trophy, and taking first prize at the international accordion competition of the Festival Interceltique de Lorient.
On the album, Morgane's compositions on diatonic accordion interweave with Jérémy's improvisations on chromatic, creating a space where music converges with reflections on life and existence. The tracklist spans a remarkable breadth: the Breton traditional dance "Hanter Dro", the Celtic ballad "The Rose of Raby", Astor Piazzolla's "Libertango", a Scottish air, Jacques Brel's "Amsterdam", and original pieces including "L'oiseau blessé", "Poésie musicale", and "À la lueur de son nom". Everything is performed as a live acoustic dialogue between two accordions — no overdubs, no studio embellishment — preserving the intimacy of a chamber concert. The duo's wider artistic practice draws on literary texts by Henry Bauchau, André Breton, Philippe Jaccottet, and Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt; that same poetic sensibility permeates the music, placing the album at the crossroads of Breton tradition, contemporary chamber music, and free improvisation.
