This is a significantly expanded, commemorative digital reissue of the 2000 tour.
This reissue includes bonus recordings from the same tour in Brazil and Argentina, which were not included in the original CD pressing, which contained 17 tracks.
The album's concept revolves around "Musical Embassy" and cultural exchange. The program was designed to combine classical American choral traditions with the rich folklore of South America, which the choir visited during the tour.
Key themes of the repertoire:
• South American folklore: Songs in Portuguese and Spanish (e.g., Brazilian "Trenzinho Caipira," "Bambambulele," "No Tom Do Jobim").
• Sacred music and spirituals: Traditional American music, which the choir presented to international audiences ("Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel").
• World Music: Hebrew songs ("Mayim, Mayim") and works by contemporary composers ("Everlasting Melody").
This album is considered a milestone in the history of the ICC, as it demonstrates the highest level of vocal technique (including the use of specific ethnic vocal techniques) and the children's ability to work with material from different cultures.
Unfortunately, there is an error in this album.
Tracks 14 and 15 have different titles, but 15 is duplicated.
The same track appears in both positions on the digital version: "Neighbors' Chorus" (from Jacques Offenbach's operetta "La Belle Hélène").
Track 14 should have been "Can't Buy Me Love" (The Beatles, arranged by Keith Abbs or Audrey Snyder).
Fortunately, this track is on the choir's previous album.
Unlike the 2018 digital reissue, the original disc had no duplication errors on tracks 14 and 15—the song "Can't Buy Me Love" was recorded correctly.
However, this original disc is now virtually impossible to find.
