Michael Angelo - A Sorcerer's Dream (2026)

The album A Sorcerer’s Dream by American soft-psychedelic musician Michael Angelo was recorded in 1976 alongside drummer Frank Gautieri but remained unreleased for over two decades until Void Records issued its first vinyl pressing in 1999. A full-blown digital renaissance of the artist's cosmic folk sound was later triggered in 2013 when Anthology Recordings reissued the standout single “Nubian Queen.” In contrast to his instinctual self-titled debut, this sophomore effort was extensively rehearsed and showcases a more deliberate artistic vision. Conceptually crafted by a 20-year-old visionary during the 1970s, the record revolves around themes of space travel, mythology, and sorcery, blending otherworldly pop, theatrical cabaret, heartfelt ballads, and later 1990s additions recorded with his band Synifus. The album's enduring legacy is further cemented by its influence on contemporary indie music, notably sampled by Dean Blunt.
