Malcolm Strachan - Look On The Bright Side (2026) [Hi-Res]

Scottish trumpeter and The Haggis Horns co-founder Malcolm Strachan has released his third solo album, Look On The Bright Side, via Haggis Records. The new record marks a transition from the strict emulation of classic Blue Note and CTI eras toward a more eclectic, optimistic, and open sound that blends soul-jazz, Latin grooves, and Afrobeat elements. Recorded with long-time collaborators, a new rhythm section, and veteran percussionist Steve Forman, the album is further enhanced by cinematic string arrangements and guest vocals from Tanja Daese. The work reflects Strachan's rich two-decade career within the UK scene, focusing on melodicism, fluid group interplay, and a distinctly positive atmosphere.
