Jet Lag is the fifth studio album by the iconic Italian progressive rock band Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM), released in 1977.
This release marked a turning point in the band's discography: the group almost completely departed from their classic symphonic progressive rock of a pastoral Italian style and abruptly moved toward jazz-rock fusion. This shift in direction was inspired by American culture during their international tours and personnel changes. Specifically, the band added American violinist Gregory Bloch, whose playing style added a jazzy and woody sound to the music, replacing the usual massive Mellotron parts. Jet Lag has divided fans: fans of traditional Italian progressive metal consider it the beginning of the band's decline, while connoisseurs of instrumental fusion on the level of Return to Forever, Brand X, or Jean-Luc Ponty call it an underrated masterpiece of PFM's technical mastery.
