The artistic duo of Irish fiddler Brendan Mulvihill and pianist Donna Long was formed in 1984, earning them recognition across the US East Coast. In 1989, they released their collaborative album The Steeplechase, which showcased a vibrant synergy of traditional fiddle and piano music. Mulvihill, who was raised in a musical family and made his recording debut with the band The Irish Tradition, partnered with Long, who transitioned from a classical piano background to Irish folk music. The release centers on compositions by Martin Mulvihill, Sean Maguire, and other musicians, serving as a tribute to their cultural heritage.
