Paolo ercoli - Why Not (2021)

Italian musician Paolo Ercoli, who specializes in playing a traditional American instrument—the squareneck resonator Dobro guitar—has released his new solo album titled "Why Not" under Appaloosa Records. The production spanned two years, and the forced pandemic lockdowns prompted the artist to finalize the long-shelved project and turn to crowdfunding to cover the high studio expenses. The album stands out for its unique title track composed for the mandolin, as well as an all-star cast of American guest musicians, featuring legendary Dobro player Jerry Douglas and Bob Dylan's violinist Scarlet Rivera. This release aims to highlight an instrument rarely found in Italy, with Ercoli explaining its technical construction and horizontal playing technique. The musician plans to focus on promoting the album and booking upcoming live shows while maintaining an optimistic outlook on his musical career.
