What do vampires, tea cups, the mind numbing challenges of the privileged, fascist overreach and fossilized footprints have in common? They’re all themes from the Blusterfields’ breakout fourth album, Peach. Meticulously yet hastily recorded by the North Carolina quartet turned quintet, this twelve-song opus is both distinctly provocative and vaguely familiar. Somewhere in the vast landscape between the Buzzcocks, XTC and Kiss, the five Blusterboys have built on the considerable successes of their prior bands (Stratocruiser, Doleful Lions, X-Teens, Grant Hart, The Argument and Norah Jones) and previous albums (The Vicious Afterglow, II and Beyond Science) to craft a post-power pop pastiche of hook-laden short songs in “Peach.”
