The Laughing Chimes’ debut album brings songs about life in a small town to the ears of the Internet. “In This Town”, with it’s jangly and retro indie rock feel touches on mix of lo-fi and higher production quality throughout. Songwriter Evan Seurkamp wrote with an autumn feel in a mind on songs such as “Cricket”, pulls lyrics from even the laziest of quarantined summer days for “Your Paisley Rug” and combines quick wit with well-known shy teenage romanticism on “[I’ve Got a Thing for Your] Patchwork Eye”. Drummer Quinn Seurkamp provides a strong foundation for the songs in his minimalistic and indie rock style. The drum tracks and rhythm guitar were recorded at Stuart’s Opera House with the help of the Stuart’s audio production program.
