"Great Western Themes" is a compilation album by renowned British conductor, arranger, and composer Geoff Love and his orchestra, released in 1997 on the EMI Gold label.
The album is a sweeping, cinematic anthology of the most famous, majestic, and iconic musical themes from classic Hollywood and European Westerns.
The 1997 album draws heavily on classic recordings by the Geoff Love Orchestra from the 1970s (in particular, his iconic 1970 album "Big Western Movie Themes"), which have been digitally remastered for the CD release.
The track listing features absolute masterpieces of screen music by such musical giants as Ennio Morricone, Dimitri Tiomkin, and Elmer Bernstein. Love's orchestra reinterprets these themes with particular rigor.
