Released in 2011, The Skatalites' compilation Treasure Isle Time features archival instrumental recordings from the mid-1960s, produced at Jamaica's legendary Treasure Isle studio with the participation of the genre's iconic musicians. The record serves as a prime example of raw, energetic, horn-driven ska with tight rhythmic structures that echo the energy of early funk. Despite its authentic vintage atmosphere and live-performance feel, the release possesses certain flaws: rough sound quality, a chaotic tracklist ordering that includes external studio musicians, and the exclusivity of bonus material limited to the CD edition.
