A distinctive, diverse and contrasting program, excellently balanced, highly musical and inspired by the equal and 'listening' dialog between the voices. With its debut album, the ensemble Ars ad Mundum, founded in 2024, expands the repertoire for oboe and string trio and surprises with a broad sound palette. Collage presents two original compositions for this rare instrumentation as well as two fascinating arrangements for oboe quartet and a duo for oboe and violin as first recordings. In addition to the showpiece of the genre, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's genre- and style-defining F major Quartet K. 370, which places extreme demands on the virtuosity of the oboist, the four musicians have recorded Benjamin Britten's Phantasy Quartet for oboe and three strings, in which the voices blend to create dazzling sound textures. Robert Schumann's Three Romances for oboe (violin) and piano, op. 94, a highlight of Romantic oboe literature, is given an immense dynamic in Hans-Peter Frank's arrangement for oboe and three strings. To mark the 100th birthday of the Georgian composer Sulchan Zinzadze in 2025, Ars ad Mundum is presenting the first recording of his famous Miniatures for String Quartet in the arrangement by Giorgi Kalandarishvili. In contrast to the string quartet version, the use of the oboe enhances the expressiveness of the music, which is reminiscent of Georgian folk instruments and singing in the four parts. Another premiere recording is Anatol Stefan Riemer's (* 1970) Alpensplitter (2014), which uses motifs from the Alpine Symphony op. 64 by R. Strauss. In the duo for oboe / cor anglais and violin, the Frankfurt composer condenses the monumental score of the Alpine Symphony into a central, suggestive musical image of a summit ascent. In addition to traditional playing techniques, he also uses new ones such as striking noises with the bow wood, air noises and multiphonics on the oboe.
