"SOOP#1 (Songs Of Other People)" is a studio album by Australian power pop musician and producer Michael Carpenter, released on August 14, 2001, on his own independent label, Big Radio Records (distributed in the US by the cult pop label Not Lame Recordings).

It is the first installment in his extensive and long-running, multi-year cycle "S.O.O.P.", whose title stands for "Songs of Other People." Initially released in a limited edition of just 500 physical CD copies, the album has become a collector's item for guitar-pop connoisseurs.

Musically, the album is classic, sun-drenched power pop driven by crisp guitar passages. Carpenter takes the canons of classic pop-rock melodists and packages them in a dense, clean analog sound with an abundance of multi-part vocal harmonies, lively Rickenbacker guitar strumming, and dynamic, explosive choruses.

The album "SOOP#1" was enthusiastically received by the independent pop press. Critics called the album the perfect textbook on how to make tributes, respecting the original while adding their own creative flair. The project later grew into a massive series (Michael has released no fewer than six "S.O.O.P." volumes).
