Musicians Ori Kaplan (Balkan Beat Box, Shotnez) and Lihu Melamed have released their collaborative debut album, Reverie, via Batov Records. The record delivers a cinematic eclecticism that blends modal jazz, 20th-century film score aesthetics, 1970s psychedelic rock, Middle Eastern textures, and Klezmer motifs. The recording features guest contributions from longtime collaborators Tamir Muskat and Itamar Ziegler. Central to the sonic landscape are prominent flute and baritone saxophone lines that cultivate a hypnotic, dreamlike atmosphere. The project explores the concept of intergenerational continuity in musical language, successfully balancing structured compositions with spontaneous studio improvisation.
