Kronstad 23 - Dødehavet (2026) [Hi-Res]

The Norwegian quartet Kronstad 23 has released their third instrumental album, Dødehavet, via Batov Records. Created by longtime friends in a Bergen home studio, the record relies purely on intuition rather than extensive rehearsals or sterile production techniques. Using a 50-year-old mixing console and tape recorder, the tracks were captured live, mostly in single takes, to preserve a raw, analogue warmth and natural collective momentum. Enhanced by guest saxophonists, the album organically blends cinematic jazz, psychedelic rock, Scandinavian folk, Afrobeat, soul, and Indian raga. Ultimately, Dødehavet focuses on the process of collective playing and improvisation, with the studio serving as the band's creative laboratory in place of live touring.
