A leading figure in electronic music, Philippe Manoury became associated with IRCAM and the activities of the Ensemble Intercontemporain at a very early stage. In 1982, he dedicated them Zeitlauf, a remarkable work for choir and small ensemble in which the electronic processing of voices plays a central role. Through the distortions it creates on pre-existing musical phrases, he explores our relationship to perception and auditory memory.
