Swedish vocalist Mariam Wallentin and the West Norwegian Jazz Ensemble (Vestnorsk Jazzensemble) release a collaborative concept album, Spring Flood. The material originated from Wallentin’s lyrical diary entries recorded during a spring trip to Basel and was completed over a two-day session in a Bergen studio driven by intuitive improvisation. Comprising original compositions and a rare cover, the record explores themes of nature, corporality, and springtime awakening. The sonic palette ranges from ambient, nature-inspired textures and shimmering harp passages to dynamic large-ensemble orchestral jazz with electrified undertones.
