The 2026 self-released EP Discount Season marks the debut solo project of Australian multi-instrumentalist Jono B-Smith. Prior to this release, the Newcastle-based artist established his reputation on the regional circuit through his work with the bluegrass-folk outfit Midnight Chicken and as a session musician for prominent local acts. The nine-track record balances intimate lyricism with characteristic satire, offering unpretentious, real-life narratives. Released in tandem with his inaugural solo Australian tour, the EP represents Smith's transition into a fully independent artistic role.
