The new concept album explores the participation of 200,000 Irishmen in World War I through the lens of personal family history and archival research. The tracks sequentially unfold the soldiers' journeys: from voluntary enlistment and propaganda campaigns to trench horrors, wartime rations, and the plight of the women left behind. Special emphasis is placed on the veterans' return to a politically transformed Ireland and the tragic legacy of the poet Francis Ledwidge, whose verse provided the album's title.
