Cellist and composer Aliya Ultan is releasing her solo album "Looks Far Woman" via Kou Records, produced by Randall Dunn, known for his work with Sunn O))) and Jóhann Jóhannsson. The album's concept draws inspiration from a mythological seer figure and Jamie Sams' book. Structured as a six-part song cycle, the record explores trance-like, threshold states and the cello's potential as a multi-register voice. Recorded during a period of profound professional burnout and physical depletion, the sessions embraced exhaustion as a gateway to a hypnogenic state, transforming the album into a continuous spiritual ritual of acoustic repair and ego dissolution. The release's visual identity features artwork by Caroline Harrison and Noirmatic, merging earthly mythology with interplanetary psychedelic aesthetics.
