Jamaican dancehall and ragga artist Charlie Chaplin launched his career in 1980 with U-Roy's Stur-Gav Hi-Fi collective. Unlike his contemporaries who favored aggressive and violent lyrics, he gained widespread popularity by focusing on cultural and social themes. Following his recorded debut produced by Roy Cousins, the artist collaborated with leading Jamaican producers and musicians, including George Phang and Sly & Robbie. Recognized for his cultural contributions, he was awarded the Jamaican Order of Distinction and established his own independent label, Crown Production.
