Jun Makino - Sleep Bath: Still Point (2007) [SACD]

This is a multi-channel SACD featuring a performance of alchemy crystal bowls, which contain harmonic components at frequencies far beyond the audible range. The album title is said to derive from the effects of the abundant high-frequency components. By playing multiple crystal bowls simultaneously, a complex sound is created, resulting in resonance. While this includes beats of various periods, it's certainly not an unpleasant sound, and it seems to have a relaxing effect. There are many CDs on the market that promote relaxation and sleep, aren't there? There's a wide variety of options, from recordings of natural sounds like the babbling of a river and the sound of rain, to those with narration from experts guiding you to sleep, and even music using special instruments. After trying many different kinds, my current favorite is "Sleep Bath." I was intrigued by the tagline, "You won't be able to listen to it all the way through," and I ended up buying it.
