"Some People" is the sixth studio album by popular Australian singer, songwriter, and actor Jon English, released in 1983 on Midnight Records (distributed in Australia through PolyGram).

This album marked the musician's transition from the pompous art rock and arena hard rock of the 1970s to the more commercial, fashionable synth-pop and new wave of the early 1980s.

By 1983, Jon English was already a superstar in Australia, New Zealand, and the Scandinavian countries, thanks both to his rock hits and to starring roles in rock operas (including Judas in "Jesus Christ Superstar") and on television.

"Some People" was created with an eye toward contemporary radio formats of the time. Unlike his previous conceptual or dramatic works, this album is comprised of dynamic, danceable pop-rock numbers and neon-synth ballads. The album enjoyed moderate chart success, cementing English's position as a versatile artist capable of adapting to the demands of a new decade.

This album perfectly demonstrates how classic Australian rock heroes of the '70s transformed their music under the influence of MTV aesthetics and the synthesizer revolution of the '80s.
