Parts & Labor, a cult Brooklyn noise-rock band of the 2000s, has returned after a 14-year hiatus with the monumental double album Set of All Sets, now featuring a four-piece lineup with two drummers. This is not merely a reunion but a synthesis of two eras of the band—their early force and current mastery.
The new material expands their signature aesthetic: soaring melodies meet synthesizer noise and hypnotic rhythms borrowed from African music and vintage electronic rock. Lyrically, the album delves into abstract concepts—quantum mechanics, programming logic, philosophical paradoxes—as metaphors for contemporary paralysis and anxiety.
