SongAh Chae - All Day Long (2026) [Hi-Res]

SongAh Chae Trio concludes its three-album project with All Day Long, a musical statement where composed structure and spontaneous improvisation exist as a unified whole. Spiritually inspired by the Psalms, the album continues the narrative arc established in In the Beginning and Calling in the Wilderness, exploring an inner landscape of silence, tension, and resolution.
Pianist SongAh Chae creates music beginning with visual imagery and themes that develop organically at the instrument through improvisation. This methodology extends to live performance—pieces remain flexible and responsive rather than fixed.
Formed in 2023 with bassist Manos Stratis and drummer Joshua Wheatley, the trio functions as a unified collective voice where each instrument serves as melody, rhythm, and texture simultaneously. The music is defined by deep mutual listening and a minimalist expressive approach—ranging from quiet contemplative moments to more active, rhythm-oriented passages. The subtle introduction of organ expands the sonic palette without disrupting the trio's cohesion. European performance experience, including appearances at the EFG London Jazz Festival and a residency at Jimmy Glass Jazz Bar, shaped the material before studio recording, allowing the musicians to balance refinement with spontaneity.
