Oscar Dowling - Free and Easy (2017) [Hi-Res]

Oscar Dowling, an Auckland-based guitarist, has created his debut solo album Free And Easy — an introspective guitar project that explores themes of death, love, anxiety, and mental illness. Recorded at Red Bull Studios under the direction of Ben Lawson with support from local musicians Steven Huf, Will Wood, Mason Fairey, and Sam Hamilton, the album combines melancholic vocals, distorted guitars, delicate piano arrangements, and raw honesty. Each track reflects Oscar's personal journey — his struggle with identity, romance, and mental health. The songs serve as a therapeutic tool for him to process life's complexities and find solace. Despite his involvement in beekeeping alongside his brother, Oscar remains an active part of Auckland's vibrant music scene, which continues to fuel his artistic vision.
