Market East, a three-voiced vocal collective from Philadelphia, has released their debut album French Street. The group's story originates on a quiet street in North Philadelphia, where Kurt Cain, Vincent John, and Maxwell Perla would gather weekly to make music and escape harsh reality. Inspired by 1960s and 1970s classics—from Simon & Garfunkel to The Moments—the musicians developed their own style, blending lyrics steeped in nostalgia for their "golden years" with rich and compelling arrangements.
French Street showcases the full spectrum of Market East's talent: baroque pop, powerful soul, Latin rhythms, and orchestral flourishes form a unified and distinctive whole. Recorded to analog tape in Philadelphia and featuring lush vocals and vibrant energy infused with deep sentimentality, the album evokes the legendary studio sound of Muscle Shoals. The project emerges as a classic and timeless work—a kind of musical time capsule born from memories and pure love of music.
