Six years after Drift, cellist Seigen Tokuzawa and pianist Masaki Hayashi return with a second album recorded entirely in a single hall on Lake Sagami, quieter, more private, and more inward-looking than their 2020 debut.

Hayashi's score for Miwa Nishikawa's Under the Open Sky (winner of the Audience Award at the Chicago International Film Festival) brought him one of Japan's top film-music honors, and he works in parallel across chamber and improv projects. Tokuzawa is just as versatile: a familiar voice on Japanese children's TV, the string orchestrator behind Makoto Shinkai's Your Name., and composer for the anime Mobile Suit Gundam: GQuuuuuuX. Together they bring a decade of shared playing into 13 pieces: eight originals, two room-toned improvisations, plus a classical rarity, a Thelonious Monk standard, and a Claus Ogerman piece with Tokuzawa on vocals. The result is hushed and cinematic, sitting somewhere between contemporary jazz and modern classical chamber music.
