Various Artists - Mark de Clive-Lowe presents Remixes & Reimaginations (2026) [Hi-Res]

Labels Impressive Collective and BBE Music are releasing a remix compilation by New Zealand-born, Tokyo-based pianist, composer and producer Mark de Clive-Lowe, widely recognized as a pioneer of nu-jazz, broken beat and electronic music. Following his previous solo album «past present (tone poems across time)» — a contemplative, self-authored project — the musician turns to an entirely different format: a collection of reworkings of other artists' compositions, gathered from years of collaborations across the scene.
The compilation includes a reimagining of Close Counters' «I'll Be There For You», transformed into an uplifting gospel-house track charged with energy for the broken beat dancefloor. Also featured is a new version of We Are KING's «Supernatural», preserving its recognisable, almost otherworldly tone. British musician Omar's «This Is Not A Love Song» receives a fresh interpretation nearly three decades after the original. The collection closes with an intense, politically charged rework of Anthony Joseph's «Maka Dimweh».
All the remixes share a common approach: crafted with the progressive dancefloor in mind, yet retaining enough depth to reward the attentive listener, and above all staying true to the essence and spirit of the original works. In the musician's own words, remixing has never been about the technical rearrangement of stems — it's a way of uncovering a new reality inside music already in existence, work he approaches with gratitude toward the artists who entrusted him with their compositions, treating each one with love, curiosity and respect. The release is conceived not as a simple retrospective, but as a celebration of the remix as an art form in its own right.
