Husky voiced Donna Singer teams with The Doug Richards trio of Doug Richards/b, Billy Alfred/p and Mike Cervone/dr and cameo guests to give tribute to recently departed friends and musicians that have graced her life. She is sleek and savvy with Alfred on an upbeat “For Once In My Life” whle Cervone’s military snares snap everyone to attention on the boppy “Almost Like Being In Love.” Cervone’s brushes are nifty on the opening duet of “Alone Together” here Singer is at her loungie best, while she shows her pep on a bouncy “Lover Come Back to Me.” The album feels like she’s working you like an audience at a jazz club, so you feel like you’re right there with her.
