Cosmograf - Rattrapante (2021)

"Rattrapante" is the eighth studio album by the British progressive rock solo project Cosmograf, featuring multi-instrumentalist Robin Armstrong, released in March 2021 via Gravity Dream Music.

The album's title derives from the French term "rattrapante" (a split-chronograph watch with two stopwatches for measuring parallel events). The record is entirely devoted to the theme of time: how people measure it, lose it, try to catch up with it, and how it shapes our memories and personalities.

The album's soundscape is incredibly spacious and atmospheric. Armstrong traditionally uses field recordings (including NASA voice samples and spoken word), creating the feeling of listening to a full-fledged aural drama.

The album combines deep melodic keyboard parts, expressive guitar solos, and dynamic rhythm changes. The music draws influence from classic British prog bands like Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, Genesis, and David Gilmour.

As with previous albums, Robin Armstrong performed most of the instruments himself (vocals, guitars, keyboards, and bass). Kyle Fenton played drums, and Chrissy Mostyn of The Blackheart Orchestra sang a duet with Robin on the track "I Stick To You."
