The story of Black America is one of forced dispersal across the world: from the 1400s to the 1800s, millions of Africans were taken to Europe and the New World, and slavery persisted in America from the early 1500s until the Emancipation Proclamation signed by Abraham Lincoln. Freedom did not end the fight for equality — it continues to this day. Music became the central language of that journey: born as moans and hums on slave ships, it grew into a means of channeling the deepest emotions of Black people and laid the foundation for a rich tradition spanning jazz, blues, soul, rock, gospel, and spirituals. Within this tradition, musician Michael Wynn created an album marking America's bicentennial — a personal testimony of faith and gratitude to God, infused with deep spirituality and love. As Philippe Wynn puts it, Michael's music is more than artistry; it stands as living proof that, after two hundred years, Black people have every reason to affirm that God has blessed their hands.
