The Turbans - Presenting The Tarbans (2015)

The Turbanz were a doo-wop vocal group active in the mid-1950s, known for the falsetto lead of Al Banks. In 1956, the group recorded their only full-length album for the New York-based label Herald Records, a partnership that ended after this single release. The group's sound was defined by a distinctive, recognizable "turban" vocal style paired with tightly arranged, well-balanced choral harmonies, setting The Turbanz apart from many similar acts of the era. Decades later, this rare material has been reissued on CD in its most complete form: alongside the original album, the release includes bonus tracks — singles issued after the initial recordings — turning the collection into a comprehensive anthology for longtime fans of the genre.
