When I was in the 10th grade, living in SoCal, I was buying records as often as I could. My favorite records at the time were guitar driven records—blues and English bands like Cream, John Mayall, and of course The Beatles and The Bee Gees (pre Disco era). One of the albums I picked up was Super Session- featuring Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper and Steven Stills.
That album, primarily the Bloomfield tracks really inspired me as a player!

Fast forward about 57 years later, I’m joined by 3 super players- Tyler Coomes (drums), his brother Erick (bass) and Adam Wirdzek (drums). The Coomes brothers and I did a jam album in 2024 called “Up All Night” and last year Adam and I did another jam album called “Duo-Tone Inventions”. I enjoyed recording with these guys at different sessions. In fact, the Coomes brothers and Adam haven’t personally met yet, but that day is coming.

So, this collection of jams took place in my studio between late December 2025 and early January 2026.
Instead of 2 albums containing roughly 10 tracks each, I thought—let’s join with 5 jams from each.
I feel these jams all hang very well together having used the same drums and recording gear. Also, it really surprises me how these spontaneous jams sound quite arranged and planned. I really like the studio in this regard!

In looking for a title, I thought “Super Sessions” with a tip of the hat to that iconic Columbia release of 1968!
On the five tracks with Adam, I played the bass-3 fretless and 2 fretted bass. I also used my old trusty Zion / Kenny Marshall guitar from 1986 through my Supro Amp. On O-Kaye I played through a Spark 2 amp for that Hendrix vibe.
Erick played great bass on the jams with Tyler, who like Adam, is top notch in his field.
So, thanks guys for the request to jam again!

Thanks to Tom Gulotta and Steven Ashlock, who gave us all ”thumbs up” for the music.
…to Bruce for mastering these recordings!
Thanks also to Adam Trudel and Sweetwater Sound, Supro Amps, Positive Grid Amps and as always—Elixir Strings.
