Bonnie Paine has officially released her debut solo album, Unseen, a deeply personal and sonically expansive collection that showcases the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist stepping fully into her own artistic spotlight.

Released on May 8th, Unseen features ten original songs written by Paine, blending elements of Americana, indie folk, art rock, and Celtic-inspired textures into a hauntingly intimate listening experience. The album includes collaborations with legendary producer T Bone Burnett, who helmed five tracks, as well as longtime friend and collaborator Gregory Alan Isakov, who co-produced and contributed instrumentation to the song “Fend For Not Fight.”

The record was crafted across multiple studios and collaborators, including sessions at Sound Emporium with Burnett and Ferncliff Studio alongside co-producer Daniel Sproul. Paine described the process as “a lifelong dream come true.”

Known for her work with Elephant Revival, Paine has built a reputation as one of indie folk’s most captivating performers, incorporating cello, musical saw, guitar, washboard percussion, bass drums, and stomp boxes into her live performances. Her songwriting has long balanced emotional vulnerability with adventurous instrumentation, and Unseen marks the most personal realization of that vision to date.

Born in rural Oklahoma and now based in Colorado, Paine draws heavily from nature, solitude, and emotional introspection. The result is an album that feels both grounded and transcendent, layering poetic lyricism with spacious acoustic arrangements.

Among the standout tracks is “Lighthouse,” produced by Burnett and featuring harmonies from Leah Song and Chloe Smith of Rising Appalachia, along with contributions from Brittany Haas, Daniel Tashian, Eric Thorin, Kai Welch, and Will Honaker.
