The album Country Sleight of Hand by singer-songwriter Stevan Alva emerged during a time of profound personal transition, marked by the passing of his father, his departure from Texas, and his eventual settlement in Seattle, Washington. This new chapter in Seattle provided the artist with an inspiring backdrop to confront grief and compose new material. Thematically, the record explores the complexities of love, death, and human uncertainty.

Recorded at The Unknown studio in Anacortes, Washington, the project features a rich and varied sonic palette. The album was recorded and mixed by Marshall Pruitt of Austin, Texas, and mastered by Rachel Field at Resonant Mastering in Seattle. The work blends singer-songwriter intimacy with elements of country and indie folk.
