Kehro - Oinas (2026) [Hi-Res]

Finnish band Kehro has released their fourth studio album, titled Oinas. The record once again immerses listeners in the local history of the countryside, with instrumental track titles referencing regional landmarks such as dance pavilions, ancient boundary stones, and winding rural roads. Apart from Vesa Kaartinen, none of the band members grew up in the village of Kehro, and the project's name originally struck them as exceptionally obscure.

While the album was tentatively titled Kehrobeat, the band ultimately chose Oinas — the Finnish term for a hydraulic ram pump. Operating on waterpower at the Laurila estate, this 230-year-old device produced a steady, drum-machine-like thumping along the Kikurinoja stream for decades. Inspired by this acoustic memory from Kaartinen's childhood, the group made the pulsing mechanical rhythm the conceptual core and title of the new record, blending World Music, Ethno Jazz, and Instrumental folk Groove.
