Kotaro Maruyama - Vapor Curve (2025) [Hi-Res]

Japanese composer Kotaro Maruyama, who creates scores for visual media and commercials, draws inspiration from the heritage of Toru Takemitsu, centering his craft around silence, room ambience, and spatial depth.

His debut solo album Vapor Curve was constructed entirely on an OP-Z digital synthesizer and recorded in a single take without computer editing. Departing from traditional harmonic concepts, Kotaro Maruyama achieves rich textures by layering independent, minimalist melodic lines. The blend of rigid electronic synthesis, Japanese environmental ambient, and incidental noise yields an organic landscape defined by restraint and the raw appeal of sonic imperfection.
