Gerry Beckley has always written in that space between light and shadow, and on Merciful he leans right into it. The America co-founder delivers reflective, melodic songs that look back on a lifetime in music while still reaching for whatever comes next.
Produced by Beckley and Larson, Merciful was largely recorded in Gerry’s home studios in Sydney, Australia and Venice, California. Beckley plays nearly every instrument, joined by Jason Scheff, Nate Strasser, Matt Combs, Steve Fekete, Dave Rosser, Nick Lane, James Valentine, Jeff Larson, Ryland Steen, Luke Davison, and Brian Young.
The 13-song set revisits old ideas, uncovers unfinished vault material, and pairs it with some of Beckley’s most immediate new writing in years. Since stepping back from touring in 2023, he says creativity has arrived in waves.
