American harpist and composer Lara Somogyi presents her second full-length 11-track album, "a [time] patterned," set for release on August 28 via Mercury KX. Co-written with producer Cyrus Reynolds, the record centres on sonic experimentation with tape loops, delay effects, and repetitive structural forms. The creation of the album followed the death of her father, transforming the exploration of musical patterns into a personal reflection on time, grief, and emotional healing. The record blends processed harp textures with organic field recordings of birdsong from her birthplace of Kauai, alongside string arrangements by guest musicians Rob Moose (known for work with Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens) and cellist Clarice Jensen (collaborator of Max Richter). Building on her collaborative history with Bonobo, Ólafur Arnalds, the London Symphony Orchestra, Bat For Lashes, and soundtrack work for Hans Zimmer, Spike Lee, and Ari Aster, Lara Somogyi supports the record with lead single "sojourn" and headline performances across Los Angeles, Chicago, and Brooklyn within modern classical, ambient, and experimental harp frameworks.
