Les Agamemnonz - Die Sommerreise (2026) [Hi-Res]

The French instrumental ensemble Les Agamemnonz, known for performing barefoot in ancient Greek chitons, recorded their fourth full-length album Die Sommerreise five years after their previous release. During a German tour, the band set up a temporary studio in a historic red-brick building in East Berlin, completing a intense five-day live tracking session under sound engineer Axel Praefcke. Moving away from multi-tracked overdubbing, the musicians captured the album's performances live in a single room alongside a brass section. Stylistically, the album blends original songwriting with mid-century European dance genres from the 1960s—including the waltz, polka, bolero, and jerk—filtered through a foundational surf rock aesthetic in the vein of The Ventures, The Astronauts, and The Challengers. The recording features guest appearances by Graham Mushnik of Derya Yildirim & Grup Simsek on the rare ondioline, as well as pianist Antoine Berland performing an introduction on the clavichord. The album was issued by the American label Hi-Tide Recordings with hand-painted artwork by Elia David.
