Emil De Waal - Novelties (2026) [Hi-Res]

Danish ensemble Emil de Waal Old News, featuring prominent figures of the national jazz scene including drummer Emil de Waal, keyboardist Jacob Anderskov, vocalist Randi Laubek, multi-instrumentalist Gustaf Ljunggren, and clarinetist Henriette Groth, is releasing the album Novelties in September 2026. The band's artistic identity was shaped by their collaboration with the late clarinetist Elith "Nulle" Nykjær Jørgensen, with whom they reinterpreted Danish and American traditional jazz, swing, and blues classics by composers ranging from Sidney Bechet and Fats Waller to John Mogensen. Carrying Nulle's creative spirit forward, this new record presents original compositions that blend rich musical tradition with modern jazz expression and improvisation.
