The Brothers And Sisters - Dylan's Gospel (1969)

In 1969, music producer Lou Adler assembled a choir of twenty-seven prominent Los Angeles session vocalists under the name The Brothers and Sisters to record «Dylan’s Gospel» on Ode Records, an ambitious album featuring traditional gospel interpretations of songs by Bob Dylan. Arranged by Gene Page and recorded at Sound Recorders in Hollywood, the project brought together legendary voices such as Merry Clayton, Gloria Jones, and Edna Wright. Although initially a commercial failure, the record has since gained cult status.

The album's iconic front cover features Bob Dylan leaning against the exterior wall of a historic Los Angeles church. Decades later, researchers at PopSpots successfully identified the exact location as the 30th Street Christian Church in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. The album package was designed by art director Tom Wilkes, using photography captured by Barry Feinstein.
