Originally released in 1973, the album Flying Teapot by the Franco-British band Gong launched the iconic Radio Gnome Invisible conceptual trilogy envisioned by founding member Daevid Allen. The record's narrative universe centers on the mythology of the Pot Head Pixies, cosmic beings traversing deep space in flying teapots while broadcasting transcendent messages over an invisible radio network. Musically, the work merges space rock, psychedelic rock, jazz fusion, and progressive rock, blending intricate jazz improvisations and experimental synthesizer layers with anarchic humor and surrealist absurdity across key tracks like "Radio Gnome Invisible", "Flying Teapot", and "Zero the Hero".

In celebration of Record Store Day RSD 2026, original label BYG Records—which captured the initial sessions before licensing the master tapes to Virgin—issued a definitive deluxe vinyl edition. Cut for the first time at half-speed directly from the original tapes by Grammy-winning mastering engineer Lewis Hopkin at the UK's Stardelta Studios, the release comes housed in a gatefold sleeve accompanied by archival artwork and a 16-page booklet documenting the lore and legacy of this landmark Canterbury scene recording.
