Underwater Electronic Orchestra is the second studio album by French electronic composer and multi-instrumentalist Jean-Yves Labat (Jean-Yves Labat), released in 1976 on the Barclay label.Following his departure from Todd Rundgren's Utopia and his bizarre self-titled debut under the moniker M. Frog, Labat crafted a fluid, futuristic sonic universe. The album stands out as a rare hybrid of mutant disco, progressive electronics, and cosmic synth-pop. It blends danceable, syncopated basslines with quirky, bubbling synthesizer oscillations that mimic vocals and atmospheric soundscapes.
