Pianist Vladyslav Sendecki, a longtime member of the NDR Big Band, contributes five of his own compositions this time around, including the title track “Simple Game.” Jürgen Spiegel, in turn—known to audiences worldwide primarily as the drummer for the Tingvall Trio—is featured with three of his own songs.

And after they even had a minor hit in the jazz world with their version of Peter Gabriel’s “Don’t Give Up” on their previous album, this time they’re offering fresh takes on both John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s classic “Come Together” and “Everything Must Change”—made famous by Quincy Jones—choices that, given the current political climate, are not entirely coincidental.
