Formed by six sisters and inspired by The Boswell Sisters, the vocal ensemble The King Sisters rose to prominence on the American traditional pop and swing scene in the late 1930s. Stepping into the spotlight just as their idols retired, the group established themselves as key rivals to The Andrews Sisters throughout the 1940s.

The group launched their recording career alongside the big bands of Horace Heidt and Alvino Rey, scoring several Top 5 hits including "Hot Lips", "Oh Marie", and "It’s The Natural Thing to Do". They subsequently transitioned into successful headlining artists, recording for major record labels of the era such as Brunswick, Bluebird, Victor, and RCA. Seamlessly moving between intricate jazzy high-speed harmonies and nuanced atmospheric ballads, the ensemble secured major chart success with Top 10 singles like "The Hut-Hut Song" and "Love, Love, Love", alongside enduring tracks such as "The Trolley Song" and "I’ll Get By".
