The multigenerational Swiss-American collective mingbauset—featuring drummer Gerry Hemingway, Vera Weiss, and Florestan Botti—presents the whirling, their second studio installment following Yakut's Gallop. Recorded in a recording studio in Lugano following a triumphant appearance at the Willisau Jazz Festival in 2024, the album yields over five hours of material captured across a two-day retreat, marking the first chapter in an upcoming release series from the trio who have been collaborating since 2018.

Tracking took place in an unconventional studio setup where the musicians performed isolated in separate rooms, communicating solely through headphones and monitors. This technical environment fostered a heightened sense of acoustic autonomy, transforming their usual stage proximity into a focused, telepathic connection. Blending avant-garde jazz, free improvisation, and experimental music, the resulting record balances complex, pre-composed-sounding structures with turbulent, spontaneous sonic textures.
